Several women from the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office attended the Los Angeles County Women’s Conference, joining County and community colleagues for this meaningful event designed to inspire innovation, lifelong learning, and community engagement.
Today, we honor Indigenous Peoples’ Day by recognizing the histories, cultures, resilience, and enduring contributions of Indigenous peoples. We also acknowledge the importance of confronting historical and ongoing injustices, including inequities within the legal system.
Our office hours and services today will be limited. The courts will remain open and operational. If you need assistance, please contact our office. We will resume regular business hours and services on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
Throughout the month of October, we are honoring Hindu American Heritage Month! This month offers an opportunity to learn about the traditions, history, and experiences that have shaped generations of Hindu Americans and enriched communities across Los Angeles County.

The Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office wants to hear from you! Data is being collected from across the county to build a campaign that empowers the community with the facts. A wrongful conviction is a failure with consequences that can’t be undone. Behind every wrongful conviction is a person, a family, and a life forever impacted. Today, on International Wrongful Conviction Day, we highlight why public defense matters: protecting rights, challenging evidence, and standing beside every person facing the criminal legal system - but to do that, public defense offices need to be adequately resourced.
October is Filipino American History Month! We’re celebrating the rich heritage, culture, and contributions of Filipino Americans who have helped shape the vibrant and diverse communities of Los Angeles County.
